Where it all began
Once a Phi Delt, always a brother. And there’s always room at the Pig Bus!
The Utah Pig Bus was founded by two proud Phi Delta Theta fraternity brothers, Welby Evangelista and Ryan Lufkin, both alumni of the Utah Alpha Chapter of Phi Delta Theta at the University of Utah.
What started as a couple of fraternity brothers roasting pigs and celebrating Utah football has grown into one of Utah’s great tailgating traditions. And the brotherhood has been there every step of the way.
Before the bus
Crazy, ridiculous, and totally worth it.
Before the bus, the Pig Crew also did some crazy ridiculous things like Red Bull Flugtag, Parrothead trips and brotherhood events, and they all led to the creation of the permanent Utah Pig Bus that happens every year, come hail, high water, or losing seasons.
Red Bull Flugtag
Homemade flying machines, elf costumes, a snowman, a pirate ship and a San Francisco pier with only one way down. Every machine was planned on paper first. The paper never mentioned the bay.
Parrothead trips
Straw hats, leis, Hawaiian shirts and road trips with the brothers. Practice, it turns out, for a lifetime of tailgating.
Brotherhood events
Chapter nights, formals and reunions that kept Utah Alpha brothers together long after graduation, and kept them showing up for each other.

Many of the Pig Crew are fellow Phi Delts, bound together by friendships, shared memories, and the bonds of fraternity that last long after graduation.

Five years or fifty. You’re welcome aboard.
Whether you graduated five years ago or fifty, whether you’re from Utah Alpha or another Phi Delta Theta chapter across the country, if you’re a Brother in the Bond, you’re always welcome aboard Porky.
Come reconnect with old friends, meet fellow brothers, share a few stories, enjoy some great food, and celebrate everything that makes Utah football Saturdays special.
And while our Phi Delta roots run deep, the Pig Bus welcome mat extends to everyone: friends, families, Utah fans, and even our rivals. That’s the spirit of the Pig Bus. Founded in brotherhood, built on friendship, and open to all.
